San Blas Trips is considered by many as America’s greatest beach location. With over 20 miles of sugar-white beaches located between the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay, all you nature lovers will find this location perfect, as it offers great surroundings and a lot of places you could visit. The sand is one of the whitest sands in the world and in comparison with the sand found on the Atlantic seaboard, for example, it is much finer. On the Cape you will find a lot of pine trees and salt marshes. The water is calm and shallow, with swaying turtle grass, along with small islands, as well as fishing docks and boats and kayaks. When taken all together, the beautiful surroundings will offer you the relaxation you have been looking for.
The climate in the area is a little cooler in comparison to the rest of the state, thanks to its latitude and proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. The rainy season starts in May and ends in September; August as well as September are considered to be the wettest months of the year. During fall through spring, bird watching is a very relaxing activity; enjoy watching lovely white and brown pelicans, egrets, herons, dunlin, as well as geese and others. On the lovely beaches you can play football while enjoying a beautiful and relaxing sunset. Also, on the beaches, you can walk your dog. With no restrictions for when dogs are allowed on the beach, your dog can join you for your vacation activities all day.
The area events calendar should convince you to choose the Cape as your next vacation destination. In July, on the 4th of July to be more specific. You will enjoy the Independence Day Celebration, where Port St. Joe Black’s Island Pirate attacks ships in the bay offshore from Frank Pate Park; also, after dark, you will enjoy a lovely fireworks spectacle. In August, there is a dog friendly event on the 25th at Dixie Theatre featuring a doggie talent show as well as a fashion show. On the 17th or 18th of August, you have the chance to enjoy the Wewahitchka Annual Catfish Tournament and Catfish Festival.
In September: Coastal Clean-up Day at St. Marks Wildlife Refuge helps the ecology, keeping the nature preserve on the island in pristine condition. In October (every Thursday night ) : Music by the Bay, Octoberfest, Stone Crab Festival . In November (2nd and 3rd ): Florida Seafood Festival – enjoy the best seafood in the area; Port St. Joe Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting and Concert. In December: The Polar Express – at: The Constitution Convention Museum by the Monument in Port St. Joe FL; Island Lights and Santa’s Arrival (December 1st ), Annual Mexico Beach Celebration of Lights and of course, New Year’s Celebration.
